Rex Putnam High School

Named for Rex Putnam, the Oregon State Superintendent of Schools for 24 years, the school opened its doors to students in the fall of 1963. That first school year of 1963-1964 the student body consisted of only freshmen and sophomores, then added a new freshman class each of the next two years.

The school was originally designed for 1,200 students. The first graduating class was in 1966.
