“The Castle” was a Jennings Lodge landmark for 80 years beginning in 1925 until it was ultimately torn down in 2006. It was built by a stone mason named Paul Perard for a Ralph Folsom, and was originally intended to be a furniture store. Located on the S.W. corner of today’s River Rd. and Glen Echo it was a hopping night club for years, and later became a restaurant. The Castle had a colorful history throughout its lifetime – a story best told by Steve Poole, “Steve The Amateur Historian” in his YouTube video The Forgotten History of the Castle Restaurant.
