ERC Commemorative Sign Meeting
Saturday, Oct. 20th
10:30 a.m.
Oak Lodge Water Services Office
14496 S.E. River Rd. @ Maple
Greetings:
The Oak Lodge Community is invited to a meeting to provide input for a commemorative sign to be installed on the former Evangelical Retreat Center property in Jennings Lodge by developer Lennar NW. The sign is part of a final agreement negotiated between the developer, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and other mandated participants which include the Oak Lodge History Detectives. Community input is needed to help design a sign that adequately celebrates the history of the site.
Anyone with an interest of, or knowledge of the former Jennings Lodge Campground/ERC property is strongly urged to share their comments and suggestions for the sign’s content at a meeting on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Oak Lodge Water Services Building located at 14496 S.E. River Road. The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m.
The former campground site is located at the center of the Jennings Lodge community. Its groves of mature fir trees and its many historic buildings made it eligible to be considered as a National Historic District. Following the settlement and final agreement these have all now been removed in preparation for the new 72 home development being built by Lennar NW. The housing development will be known as the Jennings Lodge Estates.
For more information about the Commemorative Sign meeting contact Michael Schmeer of the Oak Lodge History Detectives (gennutt68@gmail.com), Lisa Bentley (lisabentley3@comcast.net), or Grover Bornefeld, Jennings Lodge CPO (citizengjb@gmail.com).
We hope to see you there.
